Dance History.
Salimah has danced and studied dance almost literally since she could walk.
Her love of dance is a very important thread that has run throughout Salimah's entire life.

Salimah's background in dance includes the studies of:
ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, lyrical, modern, kick line, Broadway-style, ballroom, and more.

Here is a summary of Salimah's most recent undertakings relevant to her current Dance Career:

  • Former Principle Dancer for the Riskallah Riyad Dance Theatre Company.

  • Studied Advanced Middle Eastern Dance with Riskallah Riyad.

  • Taken workshops or classes with such dynamic Middle Eastern Dance personalities as:
Mahmoud Reda, Marta Zorina, Phaedra of NYC, Elena Lentini , Morwenna and Walid Assaf,
Dalia Carella, Lulu Sabongi, Hadia, Karim Nagi, Chelydra, Kawakib, among others.

  • Taken workshops with Jeanne Bresciani, Ernestine Stodelle, Judith Rose, Mary Jane
    Wolbers and Mary Kasakova at the Sacred Dance Guild Festival.

  • Teaches "Belly Dance Basics" classes to both adults and children.

  • Teaches a self-designed class entitled "Dancing with Feeling" to school-aged children.

  • Studied belly dancing with Adina, chi ball, and NIA (Neuromuscular Integrative Action)
    in Milford, Connecticut.  Studied Tai Chi in both Farmington and Canton, CT.

  • Independently researched both historic and innovative facets of expressive dance including
    the schools and philosophies of Isadora Duncan and the principles of dance therapy.
